We recently surveyed 1,387 sexually active women to learn their attitudes on erect penis size. We asked them the following question:
Is 6 inches enough to sexually satisfy you?
We also investigated what penis sizes are too small and too big to satisfy a woman, what is the ideal penis size and whether penis size really matters to women.
Here is what we learned:
1. A 6 inch penis is enough to sexually satisfy 81.9% of women.
2. A 6 inch penis is too small for 13.6% of women.
3. A 6 inch penis is too big for 4.5% of women.
4. 7.22 Inches is the “ideal” penis size for women.
5. 40.2% of women would consider cheating on a partner with a small penis.

1. A 6 Inch Penis Is Enough To Sexually Satisfy 81.9% Of Women
In the course of investigating whether 6 inches is enough to satisfy a woman, we also questioned women about every other penis size from 1 inch to 12 inches in size.
The results were fascinating:
We can see from their answers that a 6 inch penis is enough to sexually satisfy 81.9% of women, but not all women. In fact, no penis size is enough to satisfy all women. Breaking it down:
- A 1 inch penis is enough to satisfy 8.3% of women.
- A 2 inch penis is enough to satisfy 11.3% of women.
- A 3 inch penis is enough to satisfy 15.8% of women.
- A 4 inch penis is enough to satisfy 32.7% of women.
- A 5 inch penis is enough to satisfy 60.4% of women.
- A 6 inch penis is enough to satisfy 81.9% of women.
- A 7 inch penis is enough to satisfy 88.3%% of women.
- An 8 inch penis is enough to satisfy 77% of women.
- A 9 inch penis is enough to satisfy 46.1% of women.
- A 10 inch penis is enough to satisfy 36.8% of women.
- An 11 inch penis is enough to satisfy 25.2% of women.
- A 12 inch penis is enough to satisfy 14.9% of women.
Perhaps our most important finding is that a penis between 5-8 inches in length is enough to satisfy the majority of women.
Does An Average Sized Penis Sexually Satisfy Most Women?
A scientific review of at least 20 separate studies was conducted in 2020 where erect penis size was measured by researchers (size was NOT self-reported). This review found that the average erect penis is 5.1-5.5 inches (12.9-13.97 cm) in length. After taking volunteer bias into account, the researchers concluded that the average erect penis size is probably towards the lower end of this range [1].
This means that a person with an average-sized penis is big enough to satisfy most women.
2. A 6 Inch Penis Is Too Small For 13.6% Of Women
Our survey found that a 6 inch penis is too small and not big enough for 13.6% of women to be fully sexually satisfied. That’s less than 1 in 7 women who find 6 inches too small.
Other interesting data we found:
- A 1 inch penis is too small for 91.2% of women.
- A 2 inch penis is too small for 87.7% of women.
- A 3 inch penis is too small for 83.6% of women.
- A 4 inch penis is too small for 66.1% of women.
- A 5 inch penis is too small for 38.5% of women.
- A 6 inch penis is too small for 13.6% of women.
- A 7 inch penis is too small for 3.9% of women.
- An 8 inch penis is too small for 3.3% of women.
- A 9 inch penis is too small for 3.1% of women.
This would indicate that the vast majority of those who are 6 inches or more in length are rarely viewed as not big enough by women.
3. A 6 Inch Penis Is Too Big For 4.5% Of Women
One aspect of penis size that is very rarely discussed is whether or not a penis is too big to sexually satisfy a woman.
When we investigated this, we found that a 6 inch penis is actually too big for 4.5% of women. That’s roughly 1 in 22 women who find a 6 inch penis to be too big.
We can only speculate why some women find penises that are 6 inches and smaller to be too big. Perhaps they have a shorter than usual vaginal canal and even average size penises bottom out and cause sex to be painful for them. Or they may have a condition like vaginismus which causes pain when their vagina is stretched in any way.
Other interesting findings:
- A 5 inch penis is too big for 1.2% of women.
- A 6 inch penis is too big for 4.5% of women.
- A 7 inch penis is too big for 7.9% of women.
- An 8 inch penis is too big for 19.8% of women.
- A 9 inch penis is too big for 50.8% of women.
- A 10 inch penis is too big for 61.1% of women.
- An 11 inch penis is too big for 72.6% of women.
- A 12 inch penis is too big for 83.4% of women.
Based on the findings in the previous 3 points it’s clear that most women do not find small penises satisfying. However, we discovered that the majority of women also do not find very large penises to be satisfying either.
In fact, most women find any penis over 9 inches in length to be too big to fully sexually satisfy them.
Based on these findings, the ideal penis size range or Goldilocks penis size range that will satisfy the highest number of women is between 6-8 inches (18.34 cm) in length.
4. 7.22 Inches Is The “Ideal” Penis Length For Women
During our survey, we wanted to find out women’s preferred penis size, so we also asked a separate question:
What is your ideal penis length?
According to our 1,387 female respondents, the average ideal penis length for women is 7.22 inches (18.34 cm).
This average figure falls almost exactly in the middle of the Goldilocks range of penis sizes (6-8 inches/15.24-20.32 cm) that we discovered in our Does Size Matter study.
Women’s average ideal penis width is 1.89 inches (4.8 cm) which translates to an average ideal penis girth (circumference) of 5.94 inches (15.09 cm).
You can see the the percentage of women that view each penis size as their ideal size in the table below.
According to one large-scale study, the average erect penis girth/circumference is 4.59 inches (11.66 cm) [2]. This means that the ideal erect penis girth for women is 1.35 inches (3.43 cm) larger than the average girth.
While knowing the average ideal penis size for women may be helpful for those with penis size anxiety, it’s worth noting that there was a considerable variation in each individual women’s choices.
5. 40.2% Of Women Would Consider Cheating On A Partner With A Small Penis
We wanted to round out this study by examining further issues about penis size. We asked women if they would consider cheating on a partner due to their penis size or if they would definitely cheat.
Would Women Cheat On Someone Due To Their Small Penis?
10.7% of women confirmed that they would cheat on their partner if their penis size is too small.
An additional 29.5% of women would consider cheating on a partner if their penis is too small.
That adds up to 40.2% or two-fifths of women who would think about cheating if their partner’s penis is too small.
Would Women Cheat On Someone Due To Their Big Penis?
5.6% of women confirmed that they would definitely cheat on their partner if their penis is too big.
An additional 24.7% of women would consider cheating on their partner if their penis size is too big.
In other words, size matters. Being too small for your partner is not the only problem. Having a penis that is too large can also create relationship problems and issues with sexual satisfaction.
Conclusion
Our investigation conclusively answered the question, “Is 6 inches enough to sexually satisfy a woman?” We discovered that a 6 inch penis is big enough to sexually satisfy 81.9% of women. However, 6 inches is too small for 13.6% of women and too large for 4.5% of women.
We further explored whether penis size matters to women in our other study, Does Size Matter. In it, we investigated how penis size matters to women in relation to:
- Female sexual satisfaction
- Serious relationships
- Casual sexual relationships
- Ending a relationship
- Cheating on a partner
We also discovered the Goldilocks penis size range or ideal penis size range that is preferred by women.
Methodology
We began this survey by collecting basic demographic information. Those who had never received penile-vaginal sex were disqualified, as were non-female respondents. All respondents were over the age of 18 with a mean age of 42. After this filtering process, we were left with a total of 1,387 respondents:
- 1,125 women identifying as heterosexual
- 184 women identifying as bisexual
- 13 women identifying as homosexual
- 33 women who specified alternative sexuality to heterosexual/homosexual/bisexual
- 32 women who declined to provide their sexuality
These remaining participants were asked a variety of questions to assess their personal sentiments, experiences and preferences on the topic of erect penis size in relation to penile-vaginal sex.
Our survey relied on the anonymous recollections and preferences of our study participants. While they were encouraged to tell the truth and accurately represent what they had experienced, the data is nevertheless self-reported and there is the possibility of some inaccuracy.

I also don’t doubt your survey results. A quick YouTube search is about the same regarding size when asking girls on the beach, or wherever. I find those funny and entertaining.
As the owner of a 7.25 x 5.2, I’m not gonna cry about the results of the survey. However, why in your opinion, do women desire a penis nearly 50% larger than average? Average being 5.1 x 4.6 – Medical science says this time, and time, and time, again. And, from the survey…

That extra 1.35″ over average is the top of a Coke can. While not HUGE compared to some porn stars, that’s still pretty big.
I truly don’t understand this. Are women getting larger downstairs? If not, why aren’t men keeping up?
At my 5.2 girth, medical science says I’m above average, but I still lack over 3/4″ in girth to be in “Goldilocks” thickness. I’m not sure my wife would like 6+ girth because she’s tight, but maybe she would, so who knows. That’s A LOT in terms of total penis volume.

this is also for men I like many other men prefer a woman with big breast,hips,ass, while her not being obese, the average woman doesn’t have those features,
I was extremely anxious about this when I was a teenager. I wish we had access to this kind of information when I was a kid. I developed late and was obsessed with looking at the other guys size. It actually made me think I was queer. I’m not. But boy it sure gave me a lot of grief. I’m about 6 x 5 so I am in fine shape for most women who are mature enough for actual relationship. It has been a revelation though, after the information became more available.
I’m rocking slightly above the ideal from this study. Here’s the thing… you are born with all the length and girth you are ever going to have. No pills, pumps or other devices will enhance your ‘equipment’.
Women are sexual creatures like everyone else. And yes, size is an important thing… it’s just not the ‘only’ thing for most women. If you are average you should be golden. Don’t neglect all the other stuff though.
I sleep almost exclusively with married women. In almost all the cases, they tell me their husband is below average… but that’s not why they take me to bed. Their husbands didn’t give them the attention and validation they needed. Most are lazy husbands who figured that they no longer had to put forth effort to make their wives feel desirable and loved. Makes it to easy for guys like me.
Focus less on your penis size, and more about learning to communicate with your partner. And if they tell you they fantasize about a bigger cock or having two men at once, don’t let it affect your ego negatively. If you ask “In a consequences free world, would you want a well endowed skillful lover to supplement your sex life?” You’d be surprised how many women answering honestly would say “yes, hell yes”!
Too often we blame the wrong things for our self-perceived inadequacies. It’s not your penis size that matters (albeit, not many women like a micro penis). It’s everything else about you that determines your suitability as a lover. You can’t change the size of your penis, but you can become a more skilled lover and engaging partner.

Just to be clear, 10.7% said they would definitely cheat if their partner’s penis was too small and a further 29.5% indicated that they would consider cheating if their partner’s penis size wasn’t big enough. Many people consider cheating without actually going ahead with it!
I have a six inch dick
I’m 6’0 tall. My penis is 7.5 inches in length, with a girth of 6.3 inches. My wife cheated on me with a guy who’s 6’5 tall, & has a penis length of 8 inches, with a girth of 4.5 inches.
Technically his penis is smaller than mine, & my wife gets pleasure from girth. However, her choice to cheat had nothing to do with the size of either of our penises. She cheated because wives & girlfriends often get bored in relationships & seek excitement in other men. Which has nothing to do with the other mans penis size, & everything to do with his character.
Women are driven by emotion, which makes them wild with desire, & although “seemingly” content, they’re never truly satisfied with anything.
